X370 proved to be a major turnaround for ASRock's reputation as a motherboard manufacturer, taking advantage of the motherboard shortages surrounding Ryzen's launch to quickly grow their brand and become better recognised amongst PC builders.
One of the key's to this success was their X370 Taichi motherboard, which gained a lot of momentum really in X370's life cycle with frequent BIOS updates and a sea of positive reviews of launch. Since then the Taichi brand has found success with AMD's Threadripper X399 platform and Intel Coffe Lake Z370 and Intel's X299 platforms. On top of that ASRock has created the world's only MATX X399 motherboards under the Taichi sub-brand, further cementing the ASRock name in the annals of technological excellence.
This pedigree makes the ASRock Taichi one of the most eagerly anticipated motherboards in AMD's X470 lineup, with AMD fans hoping to find another well-designed board from ASRock on day-1.
Thanks to some image leaks from Videocardz, we can see exactly what ASRock will be bringing to the table using AMD's X470 socket, delivering two high-end motherboard designs under the Taichi name, with both standard and Ultimate versions.

Both motherboard designs come with two M.2 slots for NVMe SSD storage, just like every other X470 motherboard that we have seen so far, with both board shipping with eight SATA ports an a lot of power phases. These two motherboard designs will make use of an 8+4-pin EPS setup for CPU power, once again pointing the Taichi brand at overclockers, with both motherboards shipping with a post-code reader for easy error diagnosis.
ASRock's Taichi Ultimate will offer a few additional features over their standard Taichi model, providing users with an AQUANTIA 10Gb Ethernet port on the rear I/O and dedicated power, reset and clear CMOS buttons on the board itself. Otherwise, both motherboards seem identical, aside from the Ultimate's lighter/greyer colour scheme.

It seems likely that AMD will be revealing their Ryzen 2 lineup and X470 motherboards in the coming days, as leaks are becoming increasingly common. Rumour has it that AMD's Ryzen 2nd Generation processors will launch on April 19th alongside AMD's new X470 chipset, though AMD's upcoming CPUs will support older AM4 motherboards with an up-to-date BIOS.
