Nvidia rumoured to be announcing RTX Ray Tracing Tech next week

According to a report from Videocardz, Nvidia is set to announce their new RTX technology on Monday, the first day of GDC 2018. This technology is said to enable real-time cinematic rendering, offering real-time area shadows, glossy reflections and Ambient Occlusion using their "Ray Tracing for GameWorks" feature set.
These features said to be a "highly optimised ray tracing technology on Volta GPUs", suggesting that this is a hardware-level feature for Volta and that this feature won't be available for Pascal of older hardware. Nvidia is also reportedly working with Microsoft to create a new Ray Tracing API for RTX, which is set to be supported by all major game engines like Unreal Engine 4, Frostbite and Unity.
Nvidia's RTX technology is also said to be available to some developers in an early access format, including EA Games, Remedy (who created Quantum Break) and 4A Games (The creators of the Metro series).

If this report is accurate, Monday is going to be a fascinating day for Nvidia fans, kicking off GDC 2018 with a technological bang. The question is how well will this technology work and will it be enough to get enough developers to utilise it, especially given the lack of Volta hardware on the gaming market.
