MyShake : Detect Earthquakes Using Your Android Device

In General, to detect an earthquake , we need some special specialized equipment to do that. But what about an affordable device which is owned by pretty much everyone. A smartphone or tablet running Android OS ?!.
Yes! it is now possible to do that with a special Android Application which can detect earthquakes and turn your  Android device to pocket-sized seismometer.
MyShake will work in background and will use the built-in accelerometer to detect the earthquake vibration. If the app detect some specific motion which is similar to an earthquake vibration profile it will send the data anonymously to Berkeley seismologists for analysis.Scientist recommend to use MyShake when  the device is on a table for example for better results.
